1. About WTDM

The World Travel Dialysis Medical Network (WTDM) is an international medical network established to support hemodialysis patients in receiving safe, high-quality dialysis treatment while traveling domestically and internationally.
WTDM has been building a Travel Dialysis system centered in Korea since 2016, and is now expanding its network of cooperating medical institutions, primarily in major Asian countries.
Unlike general travelers, patients with chronic renal failure and end-stage renal failure have faced many restrictions on long-distance or overseas travel because regular hemodialysis treatment is essential. WTDM addresses this issue by connecting reliable dialysis medical institutions across countries and establishing collaborative systems among medical professionals, thereby creating an environment where patients can travel more safely.
In particular, WTDM differentiates itself by being not merely a medical institution referral service, but an international cooperation network in which medical professionals directly participate. Each member institution has experience in hosting travel dialysis patients and maintains a medical system above a certain standard, and operates with patient safety as the highest priority through close information sharing among medical professionals within the network.
Under the philosophy that travel is an important factor in improving Quality of Life, WTDM supports dialysis patients so they do not give up traveling because of their illness.

2. Main Roles of WTDM

Guiding patients to suitable dialysis institutions in the countries and regions they wish to visit and supporting reservations.
➁ Advance Sharing of Medical Information
Sharing patients' latest dialysis records, test results, prescription information, etc. in advance to prepare a safe dialysis environment.
➂ Building an International Medical Network
Building an international standard-level travel dialysis system through MOU agreements and regular exchanges among member medical institutions.
➃ Providing Patient-Centered Services
Coordinating medical institutions, travel schedules, and emergency response systems so that patients and their guardians can travel with peace of mind.
➄ Spreading Global Travel Dialysis Culture
Revitalizing the social activities and overseas travel of dialysis patients and contributing to improving their quality of life.

5. Future Vision of WTDM

WTDM aims to move beyond a simple travel dialysis support network to build a Global Renal Mobility Platform.
Going forward, we are promoting the following projects:
Building a global travel dialysis reservation platform
Developing a multilingual medical information system
Expanding cooperation with international travel agencies
Developing medical tourism and travel dialysis packages
Building an inter-country emergency medical linkage system
Expanding international support for home dialysis patients
Providing AI-based customized travel dialysis services

WTDM will continue to work together with medical institutions, academic societies, companies, and patient organizations to create an environment where dialysis patients around the world can freely cross borders and travel.

I am Lee Dong-hyeong, Chairman of the World Travel Dialysis Medical Network (WTDM).
Thank you sincerely for visiting the WTDM website.

For patients with end-stage renal disease receiving hemodialysis treatment, travel has long been a significant challenge. Facing the reality of needing regular dialysis treatment three times a week, many patients have had to give up on dreams of traveling with family, visiting other countries, and experiencing new things.

WTDM was founded to change this reality.
Beginning in 2016 with exchanges between Korean and Japanese medical professionals, the travel dialysis collaboration later expanded to include Taiwan. In 2019, medical professionals and institutions from Korea, Japan, and Taiwan came together to establish WTDM. WTDM strives to be more than just a medical facility referral network — it aims to be an international medical cooperation platform that enables dialysis patients worldwide to travel safely and comfortably.

In May 2026, WTDM and HanaTour successfully carried out the Shanghai Travel Dialysis Project in China. Hemodialysis patients traveled overseas with medical staff, safely received dialysis treatment at local medical facilities, and enjoyed their trip. This project deeply moved many people, and coverage in major daily newspapers demonstrated the new possibility that "dialysis patients can travel freely too."
This was not merely a successful trip, but a new declaration about the quality of life and mobility rights of dialysis patients.

WTDM will continue to collaborate with excellent dialysis institutions around the world to build a safer travel dialysis environment. Furthermore, through cooperation with medical institutions, patient organizations, the travel industry, academic societies, and related organizations, we will create a global travel dialysis ecosystem where anyone can travel with peace of mind.

We believe that dialysis patients should not have their life possibilities limited by their illness.
Dialysis is not treatment that stops life — it is treatment that sustains life.
